"The Calm Before the Storm" January 21, 2007
The 2006 AFC Championship Game; the game in which the Colts came of age. The Colts needed to defeat the Patriots in order to earn their first Super Bowl bid since playing in Indianapolis. For both the fans and the players the game displayed the full range of emotions. At the end of the first half, the Colts were losing to the Patriots by a score of 21 to 6, and many fans were concerned that time had simply passed by the Colts. However, the end of the game brought an incredible celebration that no one in attendance will ever forget. The Colts beat the Patriots 38 to 34 and earned a shot at the title in which they eventually won.

This photo offers a glimpse of pre-game warm ups for a Championship team. The team very professionally prepares and maintains focus with a variety of events going on around them. As this photo is taken, Coach Bellichik observes the warm ups by himself while Coach Dungy talks with several of the game officials. Peyton Manning and Jim Sorgi warm up together as do the wide receivers. A sideline photographer photographs Reggie Wayne while Hunter Smith, the Colts punter, speaks with a CBS cameraman. Marvin Harrison and Colts coach Tom Moore observe the Patriots warm ups. Another NFL Films cameraman is getting a close-up of linebacker Cato June.
